Online Safety

The internet is a central part of children's lives today. They use a variety of devices to access social media, online games, websites and apps, all of which form a key part of their online world.

While the internet offers valuable opportunities for learning and personal development, it also introduces new risks and challenges.

At Gearies Primary School, online safety is a top priority in ensuring the protection and well-being of our pupils. We have robust security measures in place, which are monitored within the school to help safeguard children from potential online dangers and inappropriate content. Any incidents related to online safety are carefully recorded and managed. Additionally, all children receive online safety lessons through our PSHE curriculum, where they are taught how to stay safe and behave responsibly in the digital space.

However, to be truly effective in keeping children safe online, we must work closely with parents to ensure a consistent approach to online safety. It is important for parents to engage in open discussions with their children about how to stay safe online and how to behave appropriately, both at home and in the wider digital world.
