Social Change Projects
Social Change Projects
Each class in school is currently managing its own social change project alongside the school council. These projects will continue over the course of the year and they will all have a positive impact on our community.
A social change project will focus on improving an aspect of our world, examples include reducing the use of plastic, increasing non-car travel to school, or increasing the awareness of homelessness.
Firstly, each class will collectively agree their idea, define actions and then make SMART targets, then start their project.
Class teachers will ensure the progress of their projects within their weekly timetable. This is a perfect opportunity for the children to use their creativity and have a significant impact on the community around them.
Mr Lea and Miss Khalid are overseeing the social change projects. The school counsellors also have three of their own projects focusing on ‘hidden homelessness’ and ‘reducing the amount of cars parking outside the school gates’. There are frequent meetings between Mr Lea, Miss Khalid and each of the school counsellors to discuss the projects.
School counsellors will be reporting to Mr Lea and Miss Khalid with the progression of their class projects. The school counsellors have an important role as they will be in charge of their class projects, alongside their teacher.
Each child is eager to make a positive impact, which can be showcased by their excitement towards their projects. Awards will be given at the end of the school year to the project which has made the most significant impact.
